Biblical Numerology - Myth or Fact?

Is there any such thing as Bible Numerology?

Biblical numerology.

Someone recently sent me a slide show via email about a beautiful fact regarding numbers in the Bible. It went something like this, and all thanks to whoever this originated from;

The shortest Chapter in the Bible is Psalm 117. The longest Chapter is 119. The middle chapter of the Bible is Psalm 118. Here's where it gets mind-blowing...

There are 594 chapters before and 594 chapters after Psalm 118. If we add these together we get 1188.

The Centre verse of the Bible is Psalm 118:8

It says "It is better to put trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

And the slide show ended with the words "Now isn't it odd how this worked out - or was God at the centre of it?"

Whatever your religious beliefs this is certainly food for thought isn't it?

So, Biblical numerology claims that numbers in the Bible have symbolic significance.

The numbers 3, 7 and 40 are of particular interest apparently.

Thinking about this logically, Numerology is an ancient system used for many centuries all across the world. The Bible is thought by some to have far deeper meaning than the stories it tells. For instance you may have come across The BIBLE CODE? This claims to reveal that there are highly significant prophesies encrytpted within the text of the Bible.

I've read this book and it blew my mind, even though it sounded highly ludicrous when I first heard about it.

So surely it's possible that numbers in the Bible may too have a deeper meaning than we realize?

Here's what Wikipedia says about The Bible Code

The Meaning of the Numbers in The Bible

I think you'll find the examples of where significant numbers appear in the Bible particularly interesting. If you follow the link below you can see for example how the number 3 occurs many, many times in very meaningful ways throughout the Bible. Two of the most significant uses of this number must surely be the Holy Trinity and the 3 Named Archangels. You'll read about many more here - after which I show you some recommended books about Bible Numerology - it's fascinating:
